The Brandenburger Symphoniker will be giving the European premiere of The Linearity of Light this Sunday, October 13, in Brandenburg an der Havel.
The concert is part of the 5th Biennale sponsored by the Förderverein Brandenburger Symphoniker. As part of the Biennale, there’s a competition that has a commission as the prize. Back in 2011, at the 4th Biennale, there was something else called the “Composer’s Disco”, at which recordings of five of the submitted pieces for the competition were played for the audience and they picked which one they wanted to hear live. Turns out they wanted to hear The Linearity of Light.
So while I didn’t win the prize of a commission, I’m still off to Germany! Never been there before and am looking forward to it.
Though my facility with the language is limited to lines from the Brahms Requiem. Tod, wo ist dein stachel? Not sure how far that will get me, oder?
